Highly-automated, more cost-efficient & greener manufacturing processes of complex thermoplastic aero-structures

Τhe ΝΗΥΤΕ partners focused on the development of a promising, highly automated, faster, more ecologically friendly and less costly manufacturing process of thermoplastic complex structures for the aerospace sector, for which comes an increased - previously unfulfilled- demand.

The NHYTE research team designed and installed a unique facility in Europe, an automated pilot plant that was used for the fabrication of the new thermoplastic composite material enabling this way the production of aerostructures by the In-Situ Consolidation automated fiber placement technology. As per the production of the stringers, the Continuous Press method was performed and then assembly via CETMA’s patented induction welding technology. At the end of the project a demonstrator representative of fuselage portion was delivered and of course, a pre-industrial continuous automated process ready for manufacturing recyclable structures.
