In the frame of WP7 the manufacturing and welding processes under development will be optimized in terms of quality and cost, based on an innovative concept for the optimization of manufacturing processes of composite material components. Particularly, the optimal set of process parameters, which leads to the minimum cost, satisfying the design and quality requirements along with the allowable process, will be derived. As a second step, a critical assessment of the environmental footprint of the developed processes within NHYTE will be carried out for the entire life of the product. Specifically, a decision making support tool will be developed able to assess the efficiency and the environmental friendliness of the processes. Therefore, the Life Cycle Costing (LCC) methodology coupled with the critical assessment of the environmental impacts of the developed processes will provide a complete Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) viewpoint.
